Arguably the finest film so far in Disney’s cavalcade of reinventions. In my humble opinion, this is because the whole point of a remake, surely, is to improve on the original? As brilliant as the new Jungle Book was, the original was also brilliant. Upon rewatching the original Pete’s Dragon, I decided that while I loved it as a child, it’s actually a really shit entry in the Disney back-catalogue. So, while many would argue that Pete’s Dragon constitutes an odd choice for remaking, I would say otherwise.

It’s a near-perfect Disney film, filled with magic that’ll entrance both adults and kids.
