Hot Fuzz (2007) score: 84%
I’m biased with Hot Fuzz. The best and most criminally underused James Bond, Timothy Dalton, makes this Cornetto trilogy entry my favourite. However, Hot Fuzz doesn’t need much elevating because it’s amazing in many other respects. It’s all different kinds of funny and the action and horror are well-handled. It’s one of the most ambitious and rewatchable pastiches ever.
Hot Fuzz is the middle part of a night out. Things start to get a bit incoherent and long-winded but underneath it’s actually very simple and lasting friendships can be formed by throwing some punches at your mutual enemies (not advised).
