Day 26. Batman Begins (2005). Directed by Christopher Nolan.

Batman Begins (2005) score: 83%

Batman Begins begins just like any other origin story, but it evolves quickly. Despite the long runtime, no time is wasted on anything that’s not directly related to the plot, or on standard silly superhero fare.

It’s beautifully shot, much more so than Batman V Superman, or indeed any film by Zack Snyder. Nolan likes to create a film by actually filming it, and allowing his actors’ performances (which in this film’s case are terrifying) to remain intact and at the forefront, unlike Snyder who embellishes everything with a dull, gloopy CGI sheen that makes his actors invisible and indistinguishable.
