Lost in Translation (2003) score: 76%
What a beautifully, lovely little film Lost in Translation is. While most people couldn’t relate to the particular situation that Bill Murray’s coasting actor and Scarlett Johansson’s directionless young woman find themselves in, their frustrations are highly relatable.
The plot’s as thin as a poppadom, but it doesn’t matter. This film is about the characters. It’s so much fun watching the protagonists lash out of their individual isolation. The film makes me want to travel to Japan to have a similar experience (even though it was heading to Japan that got them backed into their corners in the first place).
