Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016) score: 59%
This horror sequel is substantially better than the first Ouija outing; that film sucked a gargantuan amount and this one sucks much less. But while the jump scares are more worthy of your time, they aren’t very numerous and they get progressively laughable in the film’s second half. By the time of the climax everything is silly to the extent that it feels like a different film, one that is spoofing what you’ve just seen.
Origin of Evil’s main redeeming features are its characters. They’re massively more believable than the empty vessels we had to endure in the first Ouija.
