Tickled (2016) score: 80%
I did and didn’t expect Tickled to go where it goes. I knew it would get increasingly strange from what I’d read beforehand, but it was a whole hundred degrees more strange than I had imagined.
It goes from being a documentary on competitive tickling to an unavoidably limited biography on a very disturbing individual who’s got a few skeletons in their closet and far too much inherited power. It’s a brave film that risks a lot to get the best story possible and the awful injustices that David Farrier and Dylan Reeve uncover will ignite a fire inside you.
